Ah, actually no. Aside from the political and peacekeeping of ruling our planet, my father and our advisor were more scientists than musicians, so that's more what my extracurriculars centered around. [And who knows what her mother was like, or how long she was around in Allura's life.] I do enjoy listening to music, though.

[And she can sing a bit, not often and she's no Disney princess, but she can at least stay on-key.]

Do you play any instruments, Weiss?

[ Science, huh? That's interesting. Weiss has never imagined herself to be working with scientists or anything. . . even though the Schnee Dust Company hides scientific experiments underground and all. Thanks, dad! ]

I do. I learned how to play the piano when I was a child.

[ She smiles a little. Meanwhile, their orders arrive. ]

In my case, it was because I had to learn how to entertain people.

[Hooray, food! The mice especially begin poking out of the pouch on Allura's belt, hoping there might be something on Awesome Princess Friend's plate they can eat. Weiss might even see a tiny turquoise mouse climb up the princess and onto the edge of her table to inspect the yummy sandwich and salad.]

Entertain? Why so?

[ Weiss' eyes dart over to the mice, wincing a little, but she does her best to not look too uncomfortable. That's. . . not a sight you see everyday. ]

Because it's expected of a Schnee to excel in many things, art included. I had various recitals and performances all over Atlas to promote Schnee Dust Company events, amongst others.

[It's okay, Weiss, these mice are very hygienic! They're even friendly and smart, waving to the White Ponytail Friend!

[ MICE DO NOT BELONG ON THE TABLE!! ]

Oh, you know them? [ Somehow, she shouldn't be surprised, but she is! She laughs a little. ] They're my teammates from when we were in school.

Ah, I see. [She giggles a bit.] Yes, the two of them and I have been friends almost as long as I've been here it seems. As a matter of fact, my advertisement for the blind date happened to be written in orange ink with space puns.

[schmisse]

. . . Yang.

[ Can you sense her irritation? ]

She was the one who signed me up for it, too.

Ah, did she now? [Allura gives a sigh, but at least it's a good-natured one.] I wasn't exactly pleased when i found out either. We did talk a bit, and hopefully she'll at least obtain prior consent the next time she does something like this.

Knowing Yang?

[ She rolls her eyes. ]

I doubt it.

You're probably right; the keyword is likely "hopefully."

Ruby also signed me up for a friendship date. [ She sounds annoyed, but she laughs it off. ] I'm fine.

Ah, I see it's a family trait then. [It's said with a teasing lilt, though.] Still, that sounds much better, at least to me, especially in terms of clarity of goals.

[ ALLURA IT'S NOT FUNNY ]

I suppose. They wouldn't do anything that would hurt anyone.

[heartofalioness]

[LOOK, do you know you can count the number of times she laughs or has fun in canon on one hand pretty much? This is character development, let her have this!]

That is true; even if they can be a bit excitable, their hearts are always in the right place. They're very good friends.

[schmisse]

You should meet Blake some time.

[ But don't bring the mice with you. ]

She's another one of our teammates, and she arrived just this month.

[heartofalioness]

[Oh come on, Blake's cat instincts can't be THAT strong.]

I think I should; that sounds lovely. [(Looks into the future and laugh-weeps.)] What is she like?

Quiet. [ A pause. ] Too quiet, sometimes.

But she has a good soul, and she likes to read.

That actually sounds like my friend Keith. [He's part giant purple space cat too.] He's usually quiet too, but he's quite the talented swordsman, and he's taken an interest in gardening in this world.

[schmisse]

Maybe he can tend to ours, then.

[ That's just a joke, though. She's trying to be funny! Perhaps trying too hard. ]

Possibly. You'd have to ask him though, he's a bit reserved, especially around strangers. [Just a bit? ... Okay, yeah, it IS only just a bit now, place does wonders for mellowing out Voltrons.] Not to mention he and Hunk are only JUST now finishing their greenhouse; the weather disruptions this year have been especially irksome on that front.

[But it's clear from that last bit that Allura doesn't take those situations lightly at all.]

[schmisse]

If I ever meet him, then I suppose I will bring up the idea.

[ Not that she has any trouble with the person she hires now for gardening, anyway. It's just better to have more contacts. ]

But... why is it troublesome to finish their greenhouse with the weather? Don't they plant indoors?

Mostly because they had to build it first, and their project started just before Briarlan stole the observatory crystal. It's a bit hard to get a frame set up when it's raining diamonds or mud, or when the grass is suddenly exuding glue. Even Aiada's thunderstorms gave them some trouble, short as they were.

[And don't get Hunk started on what Elios's ice did to the outdoor garden. Serious, don't do it.]
