[It's fine; they've all been busy here and back home and... well after the party on Arus, Allura's been hesitant to push for things. Meals and Altean lessons have been fun, and so was kimono shopping for the Flower Festival.]

Totally understandable. [Even Allura likes her hairstyles simple, either down or in a high bun. She motions Pidge to sit at the chair in front of her small, mirrored vanity.] And it has grown out a bit since you've been here; you COULD leave it down, perhaps a simple accessory or two since the mask is going to be the centerpiece, or we could style it a bit. Nothing too elaborate, but braiding the top half in some way might be nice indeed.

[ Things are less frantic here, they don't wake up in the middle of the night needing to go fight some battle which means they have more time for other things. And truthfully, Pidge won't deny that having someone play with her hair is nice. Plus it would be fun to play with Allura's. ]

Yeah, it's easy to just brush and go if I'm in a hurry but there's not really anywhere to go in hurry here.

[ She takes a seat in the chair, leaning forward to greet the mice with a little petting before sitting back in reach. A hand comes up to fiddle with her bangs. ] Maybe braiding? If the mask is the centerpiece then pulling back a bit of hair would help other people see it better.

[Awww~ Shame that Allura started early on hers (because she KNOW how long it takes to style hair that massive and she doesn't want to keep people waiting too long... and she didn't want Lance to take all the hot water first), but maybe sometime they could have a sleepover or something and Pidge can play with it then.]

Braiding it is. Let me brush it out and smooth it first, and then I'll see what to do up top.

[Did Pidge bring her mask in with the brush? It might be easier for Allura to figures out how to style it if she can see where the mask's ribbons will rest on the back of her head.]

[ There's always next time and means Pidge gets some practice in before sending Allura out into the world with her fumbling attempts. But they could absolutely do a sleepover (despite living in the same house), it wouldn't be the first time she's spent the night in Allura's room. Maybe invite Usagi along.

How long did it take you to do your hair?

[ Idle curiosity. She does have the mask tucked in her pocket. ]

From wash to finish? [Ah... let's ignore the steam that comes from the slight embarrassment, shall we?] About an hour or two.

[And really, it's closer to "or two." This is NOT an easy style, especially with hip-long hair like Allura's.]

[ Pidge can see the steam in the mirror's reflection but chooses not to comment on it. ] Does it take that long normally?

[ Even when her hair was longer, she just let it be for the most part. ]

Oh goodness no! It does still take a little time to wash since it's so long, but after that I can either wear it down or just gather it into a bun like usual.

[Thankfully Alteans had fairly simple aesthetics when it came to hairstyles and makeup. Hopefully Matt would like this one, though.]

This just needed extra time because of the complexity of the style and the length and texture of my hair. Yours should be much faster to do and undo since your hair is shorter and straighter than mine.

Do you dry it after washing?

[ She's more curious to know if there are hairdryers on this world, not that she'd use them but for her List of Tech to Make. As far as Matt liking Allura's hairstyle for the night... it could look like a nest for the mice and her brother would still be smitten. ]

I was thinking of letting it grow out a little instead of cutting it to keep it short. Not as long as it was before but somewhere in between.

Yes, usually by wrapping it in a towel. It takes longer, but that's usually why I shower in the evenings.

[And- again- so she knows she can get some hot water without Lance cutting into it.]

I think that's a fine idea. You have very nice thick hair, so it'll look lovely at any length, I'd imagine. Somewhere between shoulder-length and mid-back might be a good compromise.

[ A grin grows. ] Should Coran, Hunk and I build a superpowered hairdryer for you? I bet you're not the only one on the team who could use one.

[ Suddenly everyone comes over just to have their hair/fur dried in the matter of seconds. ]

It's not like my short hair fooled any of you guys for very long... except for Lance. [ Not that Pidge is trying to fool anyone these days, just having short hair is more convienent. ]

[That gets a chuckle out of her. Really, it's a small miracle Shiro, Coran, and Lance haven't joined the other members of the team in growing their hair out.]

I might like that. And considering the number of people with long hair in this world, a hair dryer might sell well indeed.

[Ancients know Allura misses her hair care products and tools from the Castle, but those are luxuries, not necessities. She can do without as long as she and her family are happy and safe.]

[At the fooling comment, the mice who've been sitting up on the table squeak something that makes Allura pause and blush a bit.]

Ah... in truth, I might have needed some help on that front.

[Small, tiny, mousy help that was there for Shiro calling her by a girly name? ... HOW they knew it was a girly name by Earth standards is a mystery, I mean come on, we have a ten thousand year old alien with "Smythe" as a last name!]

[ It might feel weird if everyone decided to grow their hair out long, even Pidge is putting a limit on how long hers is going to get. ]

I'll put it my list of tech to make, near the top. We'll name it the Supercharged Manedryer.

[ Or something equally ridiculous because of course it needs a name if they're going to sell to the general population.

Her eyes go to the mice as they squeak, obviously talking to the princess only to look at Allura in the mirror at the confession. ]

No secret is safe on the ship with the mice gossiping.

[ Though Pidge doesn't sound too upset by it. She does wonder how Keith and Coran found out and suspects Hunk found out during their early days of Paladin training when he was digging around in her mind. ]

[~~Not to mention her backpack.~~]

Ah, no. If it helps, I have asked them to not snoop quite as much. It'd be impossible to stop them completely, but... I've realized I was wrong and I need to respect your privacy and trust more.

[Because holy crow, did that conversation blow up in her face. Multiple times. Almost literally even, towards the end.]

[ ~~That too.~~ ]

Even if they tell you something, you can just ask me about it. [ Not in a roundabout fashion because yes, that did not get the answer Allura was expecting. ] At first I was trying to keep secrets but I'm not anymore.

[ And if there is something Pidge isn't comfortable sharing, she can say that much. ]

You guys are kind of like... my family now. Everyone who's part of Team Voltron, that is.

[Allura pauses for a second... before gently wrapping her arms around Pidge from behind, careful not to mess with the smaller girl's dress. Around them the air grows pleasantly warmer and faintly sparkles.]

Thank you, Pidge. I feel the same way about all of you too.

[Especially since she's actually had a chance to get to know them here and back home, and especially with Pidge through her relationship with Matt.]
